DactyScan84c
The DactyScan84c is a compact FBI Appendix F certified 10-print live-scan device, fully compliant with the “10-print capture scanner & software user group requirements,” suitable for all applications requiring 4-slap and rolled fingerprint acquisition.
A user interface based on 12 LEDs makes the acquisition procedure easier by indicating the fingerprint(s) to be acquired and providing quality feedback.
The main applications include enrollment for electronic identity documents, voter registration, and criminal background checks.
After extensive research and development efforts, Green Bit, in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Cagliari (*), developed a Fake Finger Detection solution that can be used with the DactyScan84c to identify fake fingers.
This solution is software-based and does not require any hardware upgrade for the installed base. This package, called “GB_FFD,” is fully integrated into the standard MultiScan-SDK starting from version 4.0.
Main Features
Rolled fingerprint capture: real-time display, self-adaptive to rolling speed and direction, continuous composite image generation, and automatic stop detection.
Halo elimination: removes halo effects caused by wet fingerprints during acquisition.
Automatic sequence check: ensures the correct scanning sequence.
Segmentation: automatic segmentation of four-finger and two-thumb fingerprint images into individual flat images.
Correct position and slap completeness check: verifies proper finger positioning and checks for incomplete slaps caused by missing fingers.
Slip detection for flat fingerprints: detects fingerprint deformation caused by slipping during acquisition.
Standard output format: creation of “ANSI/NIST-ITL-1-2007/2011” type 1, 2, 4, and 14 records, with support for EFTS71 output format.
Automatic acquisition start and stop: detects finger positioning and automatically acquires the image at the highest quality. Image quality thresholds can be set through the MultiScan SDK.
Image quality check: dynamic estimation of fingerprint image quality during the scanning process; NISTIR7151 quality verification.
Artifact detection for rolled fingerprints: controls correct rolling of fingerprints by indicating artifact areas that may compromise the fingerprint image.
Latent print elimination: removes latent fingerprints left from recent scans.
Automatic format cropping: generates any required image size according to the application requirements.
Automatic image rotation: correctly rotates a fingerprint image according to the application needs.
